  4.     DIED. John Henry Faulk, 76, folksy Texas humorist and
  5. author; in Austin. Popular on radio and early television as a
  6. storyteller, he was fired by CBS in 1957 after a McCarthy era
  7. anticommunist group, Aware, Inc., put him on its hit list for
  8. alleged communist ties. Faulk's successful 1962 libel suit
  9. against the group and his 1964 book, Fear on Trial, describing
  10. his ordeal helped end such blacklisting.
